As part of the BIFS study, you'll need to see your surgeon at years 1, 4, and 10 after your surgery for a follow-up exam, and at any time (unscheduled) if you have a problem with your breast implants. The first step is to make your appointment in a timely fashion. We will send you reminders via email, text, and/or telephone of upcoming study visits, and your surgeon’s office will likely reach out to you.
If you need help scheduling your appointment, you can call BIFS at 1-866-619-BIFS (2437) or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you need to transfer to a new doctor, BIFS will work with you to find a surgeon near you who is part of the BIFS study.
Prior to your appointment, it is helpful to make a list of any changes regarding your health or the status of your implants that you have experienced, as well as any questions or concerns you may have. A primary focus of the follow-up exam will be to evaluate any complications of your silicone breast implants.
If you have NATRELLE® silicone-filled implants, you will receive $100 as compensation for your time in attending each physical exam at years 1, 4, and 10. There may be a cost for the study follow-up physical exams, depending on your insurance. For questions related to insurance or reimbursement, you can contact us.
